Frequently Asked Questions

Have Any Questions?

Why have I been prescribed Zimed®PF?

Zimed®PF is used to reduced eye pressure in glaucoma.

If the patient has bilateral glaucoma, will the bottle last to the end of the month if I have bilateral glaucoma?

The bottle volume is 3 ml and the number of drops per bottle is approx. 100, therefore enough for bilateral instillation for 28-day treatment.

What is Zimed®PF’s storage requirement?

ZIMED® PF should be stored in the original bottle, between 15oC and 25oC. Keep the bottle in the outer carton in order to protect from light.

If I’m using Zimed®PF with another eye drop do I need to wait between doses?

If you use ZIMED® PF with another eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes between putting in ZIMED® PF and then the other drops.

What should I do if I forget to take Zimed® PF?

If you forget to take ZIMED® PF, use a single drop as soon as you remember, and then go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses in the same day to make up for the one that you missed.

Should I be concerned if I have red eye from Zimed PF?

Aqueous humour (fluid in the eye) provides nutrition and removes excretory products. When that flow is interrupted, it can lead to increased eye pressure (IOP) and can result in permanent vision loss. Zimed®PF and others in this class of medication help renew aqueous flow. With this renewed flow, hyperemia (red eye) may occur when the eye’s circulation adapts to cope with the fluid outflow. Over time the flow stabilizes and hyperemia (red eye) returns to baseline.

Why do I need preservative - free glaucoma eye drops?

Preservative – free formulations are needed for patients with OHT or glaucoma who have known sensitivity to preservatives.
ZIMED® PF does not contain a preservative, so it may be used in patients who could benefit from preservative-free drops.

How’s Zimed®PF contributing to sustainability?

Minims (single dose units) use 4.6x more plastic; 8.5x higher drug waste compared to multi-dose packaging as found with Zimed®PF.

Where is Zimed®PF manufactured?

Zimed®PF is manufactured in Spain (MRA compliant) as per Health Canada standards.

How do I use Zimed®PF?

- Wash your hands. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling.
- Gently pull down the lower eyelid until there is a small pocket.
- Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it to release one drop into each eye that needs treatment.
- Let go of the lower lid and close your eye for 30 seconds.
- Wipe off any excess (if any) that runs down the cheek.

Prior to recapping, the bottle should be flicked in a downwards direction, without touching the dropper tip, to remove any residual liquid on the tip of the bottle.
